The last few days have presented us all with large amounts of information on the Coronavirus. The number of cases have risen and the world markets have reacted causing even more stress and it seems at times we are getting conflicting information and advice from sources in our government. Schools have cancelled classes, air travel is impacted and it seems that a sense of crisis is growing in the World. It is all rather unsettling. What to do?
Everyone should use basic protective measures against the virus. Keep informed and stay aware of the latest information about the COVID-19 outbreak which is available on the World Health Organization website. Wash you hands with soap and water frequently. Maintain 3 feet distance between yourself and anyone who is sneezing. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze and dispose of used tissues immediately. Stay home from work if you feel sick. Wipe down your work areas with solutions that will kill the virus.
Be smart and keep informed about it, be kind and supportive - everyone is uneasy. Be careful and follow the above measures. The WHO website will tell you when to seek medical attention and provide you with accurate public health advice and give you news on the latest coronavirus updates.
Avoid spreading misinformation and always check the source you are getting your information from. It is normal that we are feeling stressed, confused or upset during this crisis. Try to stay in contact with people you trust, contact your friends and family. Possibly limiting the time you spend watching the news might help as it seems to be a constant stream of information that can raise anxiety.
